Day 26- Puppies Get New Digs

Puppies are moved downstairs permanently today, which also gave them more room to run and play. Several different groups of vistors today. Puppies play more, but still only last about 10 mintues before they fall asleep.

Day 25

Two days ago, Assateague was the first to give us the "aussie wiggle butt" before she pounced on cory's head.
Yesterday, Cory went into the bedroom and realized there was a puppy missing from the box. I came around the corner in time to see Carlsbad ambushing Cory's feet from under the bed. He looked like he had been having lots of fun outside the box with momma Lassen to himself and exploring all the new space.

Look how big everyone is getting!

Harper says, "this blue tub really brings out my baby blue eyes."

Never a lack of things to chew on!

Day 23- First Vistors

A lot of firsts in the last few days: Today the puppies got their first "real" vistors, Cory's relatives. The puppies loved being held and there wasn't a shy one in the bunch. Assateague decided that it was a good first time for a howl when she wasn't one of the puppies being held. She doesn't like not being the center of attention; LOL.
Wrangell, Assateague, and Gila have mastered the art of growling when they are playing.
Yesterday the puppies started giving us kisses when we were holding them.
Puppies are trying to climb out of the whelping box and play tub, but I think I have a few days left before they actually manage to.

Day 21- The First Meal

Puppies had their first "meal" tonight of goat's milk and baby rice. Laura told me it might take them a couple days to get the hang out of eating from a dish. Not these guys! All it took was for Harper to slip and face plant in the stuff, realizing that it was yummy, and the race to eat it all was on.

Maybe if we keep licking the dish we will get more?

That was fun!

Day 19- The World Beyond the Box

Puppies got their first trip outside the nursery room yesterday (at least with their eyes open) to downstairs into their new "play tub". Everybody was a little stressed at first but quickly forgot about the change once Momma Lassen began feeding them.

Lots of playing with each other yesterday, with each session only lasting a few minutes before they fall asleep. And a new discovery was found: Running! But of course not having 100% control of their legs yet that meant crashing as well :-) Lassen flies through food, and Harper and Carlsbad weigh in at 3.0 pounds, with Acadia on their tails (no pun intended, LOL)

Carlsbad figured out there was another use for mom besides her milkbar; playing!

Day 16-17

Oh my gosh, they are getting SO cute. They crave human contact now and are starting to play.

Day 15- Puppies gain all their senses

Puppies can hear as well as see now. They can be very active in the box for a few minutes before they crash.

Puppies in their transport container while I was cleaning their box. I am going to have to find something else because they can climb out if they use another puppy as a step :)

Day 12-Let There be Light

Assateague's eyes are both partway open. Very exciting :)

Day 10- The Art of Walking

Puppies have been trying to walk since yesterday. Nobody has mastered the art yet, but they are trying, and in the meantime taking a lot of big spills. Harper weighs in at 2 pounds tonight. He is one big boy. It's no contest between him and the other puppies at this point.

A ninth puppy is hidden near Lassen's butt :)

Lassen's New Dog Bed

Last night when I made the last check on the group before going to bed, I found Lassen crammed into the puppy's transport box sleeping away. She has blankets, a real bed, etc. to pick from but chose this. LOL.

Enjoy the extra pics taken at 5-6 days old.

Day 6- Puppies get Names

Day 6- Puppies officially have their "box names." The theme is national parks and monuments. Listed in birth order....

Pup1- 'Bandelier' - Bandelier National Monument, New Mexico.

Born the smallest, he is slowing closing the gap each day. Likes to cuddle.

Pup2- 'Harper' - Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, Virginia

He's a big boy-weighed in at 1.5 pounds this morning.

Pup3- 'Gila' - Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, New Mexico. Pronounced Hee-la.

The talker of the group, one of the smallest but very active!

Pup4- 'Augusta' - Augusta Canal National Heritage Area, Georgia.

The largest and most laid back of the girls.

Pup5- 'Acadia' - Acadia National Park, Maine.

Miss attitude. She's one of the few who stays still and yells for momma to come to her, (rarely works because mom is busy with 8 others) instead of going to find mom.

Pup6- 'Assateague' - Assateague Island National Seashore, Virginia. Pronounced As-a-teage.

Always moving but likes to cuddle, just like her momma Lassen.

Pup7- 'Carlsbad' - Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico.

Despite his name, he is a easy going boy who barely puts up a fuss.

Pup8- 'Wrangell' - Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve, Alaska

A quiet boy that is always exploring the box, thus we have to "wrangell" him up.

Pup9- 'Teton' - Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Born as the largest pup, he has been in a weight competition between Harper and himself. Has been a favorite of people who meet him. Don't tell him what Teton really means ;)
